DONUT- WHENUAKURA ISLAND FULLY GUIDED KAYAK EXPERIENCE
---
Beginner Level : ✵ | TIME : 2 HOURS
---
Whangamata is home to the beautiful Whenuakura Island (also known as Donut Island). Because of the island’s geography, access is limited due to swell and wind conditions, and only kayaks or paddleboards can squeeze through the narrow entrance. The island is a wildlife sanctuary and opens up into a beautiful lagoon which is rather out of this world.
Join one of our experienced team on an amazing adventure exploring that takes us 600m off the coast of Whangamata Beach, to a secluded turquoise lagoon surrounded by native fauna and volcanic cliff rock.
The experience will start with a detailed safety talk on the beach including the basics on how to paddle on a sit on top kayak. Our experienced guides will help customers with launching and have several stops throughout the paddle covering some of the historical aspects of this beautiful area. While entering the cave paddlers will receive instructions on how to handle the conditions making sure all participants are safe.
After visiting Whenuakura Island the group will head towards Hauturu Island where a KawaKawa Tea will be shared with the group. This is a great part of the experience as our guides will visit different spots, according the the day`s conditions, pointing out native birds and sea life present in the area including seals during the winter months.
The guided experience is a great way to learn more about the Whangamata Wild Life Sanctuary and learn a bit more about kayaking. For further details call 0212171201 and a staff member will be happy to assist you.
